Home Renovations
FAQ

What areas do you serve?

FR Young Homes serves homeowners and businesses throughout the St. Louis area, including St. Louis City and surrounding counties. Service area confirmation typically happens during the initial consultation.

What types of renovation projects do you take on?

We handle full home renovations, kitchens, bathrooms, additions, outdoor spaces, commercial renovations, and targeted home improvements. We also offer renovation project management as a standalone service. Most projects range from several weeks to several months, depending on scope.

How do I get started with a renovation project?

The process begins with a consultation, which typically lasts 30 to 60 minutes. After the consultation, next steps such as scope development and planning usually occur within one to two weeks, depending on project complexity.

How long does the planning phase usually take?

Planning typically takes two to four weeks. This phase includes defining scope, reviewing logistics, confirming timelines, and addressing permitting requirements so construction can begin with clarity.

How long do renovation projects usually take?

Project timelines vary by scope:

  • Smaller home improvement projects often take a few days to several weeks

  • Kitchens and bathrooms generally take several weeks

  • Larger renovations and additions often take multiple months

We provide a realistic schedule early and manage sequencing to keep projects moving efficiently.

Do renovation projects require permits?

Most renovation projects require permits, especially when work involves plumbing, electrical, structural changes, or exterior modifications. Permit review and approval can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on the municipality. We coordinate this process for our clients.

How is pricing structured?

Pricing is based on project scope, materials, labor, and complexity. We provide a clear scope of work and transparent pricing before construction begins so clients understand how their investment is structured.

Do you provide design services?

We do not offer in-house design services. Design coordination, when needed, is typically completed during the planning phase and can take one to three weeks depending on the level of design required. Roles and responsibilities are clarified early to avoid delays.

How do you communicate during a project?

Clients receive consistent updates throughout the project. Communication occurs regularly, often weekly or as milestones are reached, so clients always know what is happening and what comes next.

Who manages subcontractors and scheduling?

FR Young Homes manages subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and inspections from start to finish. Clients are not expected to manage trades or timelines themselves.

What happens if issues or delays arise?

Unexpected conditions can occur during renovations. When issues arise, we communicate promptly, explain the cause, and outline next steps. Timeline impacts are addressed clearly so expectations remain aligned.

Can I live in my home during a renovation?

In some cases, yes. Smaller projects often allow homeowners to remain in the home. Larger renovations or additions may require temporary relocation during certain phases. This is typically determined during planning.

How are changes handled during a project?

Any requested changes are reviewed before work continues. We discuss how changes affect cost and timeline so decisions are informed and documented.

What makes FR Young Homes different from other renovation companies?

We focus on managing the entire renovation experience, not just the construction. Our systems, communication, and oversight create a more predictable and organized process from start to finish.

Is there a minimum project size?

Project minimums vary based on scope and scheduling availability. This is usually confirmed within the first consultation so expectations are clear early.

Do you offer renovation project management as a standalone service?

Yes. Renovation project management can be provided independently and typically begins with a planning phase lasting one to two weeks before active coordination starts.

How far in advance should I plan my renovation?

We recommend starting the conversation at least one to three months before your desired construction start date. This allows time for planning, permitting, material lead times, and scheduling.
